I get mesmerized whenever I watch an incredible Hindi movie- 3 Idiots. The climax which has been shot in a region which appears nothing less than a paradise and the heart craves to explore the region with own naked eyes. With such intent, I barked on the journey to this somewhat virgin territory which is far more beautiful than what it looked like on seventy mm screen. You feel lost as it seems a new world altogether and the region carry magnetic impact in real. I had to go easy on myself and got acclimatized in a span of three days. The region has an unusual calmness and the presence of ancient monasteries add much strength and flavor to it. Further, the crystal clear lakes in the region make it look like the best dream every bit. 

Leh and Ladakh exhibit a perfect blend of Indian, Tibetan and Buddhism linings and have so much to showcase whether gompas, snow-covered peaks, adventure activity spots, trekking options in galore, lush green patches and isolated yet appealing locations respectively. The places that you cannot miss out once in the region are Leh Palace, Stok Palace, Hall of Fame, Shanti Stupa, Jama Masjid, Tsemo Fort, Sankar Monastery, Old Town, Wanla Gompa, Dha and Hanu. Further, you may visit Tiger Hill, Drass War Memorial, Nimu, Drang-Drung Glacier, Panikhar, Maitreya Buddha, Hemis Monastery, Matho Monastery, Rangdum Gompa, Phugtal Monastery, Lamayuru Monastery, Spituk Gompa, Alchi Monastery and Diskit Monastery.

The list of the places do not come to an end here. You may also visit Likir Gompa, Thiksey Gompa, Shey Monastery, Rizong Gompa, Phyang Gompa and Stakna Monastery. The trip to the region will be deemed incomplete for certain till the lakes and Passes are not seen through. Tso Kar Lake, Yarab Tso Lake, Pangong Tso Lake, Tsomoriri Lake are some of the lakes which make the place what it is. If you are courageous enough and have strong craving for adventure, visiting Passes will be the best idea to satiate this desire. The visit to Khardung La Pass, Chang La Pass, Bara-lacha La Pass, Taglang La Pass, Fotu La Pass, Lachulung La Pass, Namikala Pass and Zojila Pass will open gateway to the world of excitement and thrill and every moment spent there will make you tougher and stronger. 

The best part while visiting the region is that you are unable to keep track of time as it slips by without even we realize and the worst part is that you should have considerable time in hand not only to acclimatize but to explore and unravel each and every corner and collect memories in abundance. So, next time whenever you have considerable leisure time at hand, do plan a trip to Leh and Ladakh as you may reach the region either via road or air and honestly you will thank me profusely once you step into this magical world.
