The other day I was fully engrossed in reading newspaper when cup of hot tea was served. The aroma was unusual and the taste was fantastic. I made a casual enquiry regarding which Tea Company is preparing and packaging such tea with leaves when my brother told me that it was being sent by one of our family friends who owns a tea plantation in Munnar. How could I miss the taste? The entire trip came hovering in front of my eyes which I took three months back. I had a distinct impression of Kerala trip where you may go to enjoy stay near backwaters and may get a rejuvenating ayurvedic treatment but Munnar added new dimension of beauty to the State of Kerala.
I have been to several hill stations across the country and I am certain that you would have also covered a great deal but the flawless beauty of the town of Munnar which a serene South Indian hill station and was a spectacular resort during the British rule is unmatchable and truly inexplicable. What attracts the first as soon as you enter the town is tea plantation which look like lush green carpets spread across to the extent your bare eyes may see. Kolukkumalai Tea Estate offers stunning sunrise view and offers an adventurous trip across it. The terrain is full of ups and downs, twists and turns and your heart gets filled with fresh oxygen and fragrance of fresh tea leaves.
Well, if you wish to gather and learn more about tea and its plantation, enter the first and finest tea Museum of the town, Kannan Devan Tea Museum. On the other hand, while on trip to Munnar, visiting Mattupetty Dam is a must as it is an excellent peace of engineering and the boating experience here is nothing less than great. Mother Nature has scattered its flawless and immaculate beauty in every part of the town and it becomes more evident when you enter Eravikulam National Park which is home to the endangered mountain goat, Nigiri Tahr. If you are fond of water bodies and waterfalls, Munnar is The Place. There are several waterfalls in the vicinity namely Lakkam Waterfalls, Attukal Waterfalls, Cheeyappara Waterfalls, Pallivasal Falls, Power House Falls and Thoovanam Falls.
There are some other incredible places in the town as well which you must visit positively. Fun Forest Adventure Park, Muniyara Dolmens, CSI Christ Church, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Pothamedu Viewpoint, Echo Point, Lock Heart Gap, Anamudi Peak, Rose Garden, Photo Point and Kundala Dam Lake showcase the natural scenery in their own mesmerizing way and the places will let you lose track of time and will certainly compel you to stay for a longer period as the tranquility fully wrapped with exotic beauty is a rare sight and experience. Honestly stating, the mere words will not be able to contain and explain the veritable beauty of the destination and you are only left with one and only single option…
Visit Munnar!
