Travelling has become a passion for many. Some are lone travellers and many travel in groups, be it family or friends. Only a handful destinations in India are much-hyped and the remaining unspoiled regions remain somewhat behind the veil. Of late, majority of travellers, both domestic and foreigners seek to explore which is less explored in order to add more memories and images, truly unforgettable. There are numerous offbeat destinations in India of which Tattapani, Mashobra, Shoghi and Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh and Binsar, Kanatal and Chopta in state of Uttarakhand are worth exploring.

Tattapani which is situated at an altitude of 650 meters is located along the banks of Satluj River. The meaning of the name is Hot Water and is known for hot water springs and one can truly enjoy white water rafting amidst scenic beauty of the region. If you are planning a trip with family, Mashobra may prove to be a great unexplored destination. The place is situated at an altitude of 2,149 meters and is enveloped with oak and pine trees making it awe inspiring. Lush green gardens, picnic spots along rivers Indus and Ganges are most enjoyable. You may visit Reserve Forest Sanctuary, Naldehra, Wild Flower Hall and Carignano respectively.

When we mention lesser travelled destinations in India, Shoghi in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh is worth exploring. It is known as temple town of Himachal Pradesh with numerous temples in every alley. The countryside view is simply incredible the view of imposing Himalayan ranges is unforgettable. Those of you with knack for adventure activities, Tirthan Valley may prove to be a great choice which is lesser known. The place is situated along the banks of river Tirthan and is gateway to Great Himalayan National Park which is home to several rare species of flora and fauna. You may also go for trout fishing, trekking, overnight camping, river crossing and range of other engaging and interesting activities.

Moving to beautiful State of Uttarakhand, Binsar is a place lesser scaled but has so much to exhibit. The untouched place is situated at an altitude of 2420 meters from where view of Himalayan ranges namely Chaukhama, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Shivling and Panchchuli is quite clear. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is famous for rare animals, birds and wild flowers. Binsar is simply trekker’s paradise as there are so many treks showering exquisite beauty and peace at each step and corner.

If you feel interested in exploring a quaint place, Kanatal may be an opposite answer. The place is thirty three kilometres from Mussoorie and offers splendid view of Himalayan ranges. It is well connected but still remote in its own way covered with apple orchards, pine forests and tiny temples.

When several offbeat destinations are mentioned, Mini Switzerland cannot be left out.Chopta is an untouched natural destination which is starting point for treks to Tungnath, third temple of Panch Kedar and Chandrashila It is also quite near to Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary and is known to offer options of snow trekking, skiing , rock climbing and many such activities.
