Bodh Gaya:- Bodh Gaya is the most important of the main four Buddhist pilgrimage sites associated to the life of Gautama Buddha, the other three sites are Sarnath, Kushinagar and Lumbini. Mahabodhi Temple became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2002, it is situated in Bodh Gaya. Buddhagaya today is a place of attraction for the whole Buddhist world and groups of pilgrims and pilgrimages come to visit it all the year round. Mahabodhi Temple is located approximately 110 kilometres from Patna. The Mahabodhi Temple has the Vajrasana “the diamond throne” and the divine Bodhi Tree. This tree was in the beginning a sapling of the Sri Maha Bodhi tree in Sri Lanka which itself full-grown from a sapling of the original Bodhi tree. Right away subsequently to the Mahabodhi Temple is the Bodhi Tree under which the Buddha was enlightened, and the Jewel Walk, Buddha is said to had walking meditation for seven days after his enlightenment so Lord Buddha’s foot marks appear on that place. The final of the seven holy spots is the lotus pond where the Buddha spent his sixth week. This place separated from the others, but still linked to the larger section by flowered pathways. Gautama Buddha is the founder of Buddhism, who was born in month of May in the year 642 BC. Lumbini lies in foothills of Himalaya. As per Buddhist tradition Maya Devi was the mother of Lord Buddha, on her way to her parent's home in Devadaha She gave birth to the Buddha. Maya Devi Temple is the main temple at Lumbini this is the Buddha's birth place. The subtle sandstone statues which discovered here in Lumbini are now in the National Musuem in Kathmandu.
Sravasti :- Sravasti was a city of ancient India, the capital of an ancient kingdom by the same name was one of the six largest cities in India during Gautama Buddha’s lifetime. Sravasti is located on the bank of the Rapti River. Sravasti the capital of Kosala Mahajanapada in the prehistoric period, Sravasti is also famous as Sahet-Mahet. The presence of Lord Buddha in Sravasti led his Sangha advance to assemble into one place. Sravasti is also well-known for the magical deed showed by Lord Buddha, sitting on a lotus, and for so many other stories that are related with Buddha. The most popular is the story of the woman who came to bring back life of her dead son. There are many other stories, related to Buddha at Sravasti, basically confirming the superiority of Lord Buddha and proving him as a legend. After Breakfast full day city tour of bodhgaya, visit Sujata Village, Niranjana River & various International monasteries. Later evening visit Mahabodhi Temple. Overnight at hotel.
Breakfast at hotel later excursion to Rajgir (102 kms), Rajgir is a site of great Sanctity and significance for Buddhists. Afternoon visit Gridhkutta Hill, Bimbisar jail & Ajatashatru's Fort. After lunch drive to Nalanda, (12 kms). It was one of the oldest Universities of the World & International Centre for Buddist Studies. Nalanda was one of the greatest monastic universities of the ancient world University established in 5th century BC. It is believed that Lord Buddha and also the founder of Jainism religion Lord Mahavir taught at this university for years. There is even a monument to facilitate Chinese traveler monk and writer Hiuen Tsang who studied at this university in the 7th century A.D. After visit drive back to Bodhgaya. Overnight at hotel.
After Breakfast leave Bodhgaya for Varanasi by surface (250 kms / 7 hrs). Varanasi is famous for Hindus and Buddhists as its close proximity to Sarnath. Arrival check in to the hotel and then proceed to Sarnath (14 kms), Visit Dhamekha Stupa and Deer park. Later Back to Varanasi. Overnight at hotel.
Early morning boat excursion on the river Ganges, a ferry pilgrimage from ghat to ghat. People bathe early in the morning to offer the prayers to the rising sun. Come back to hotel for breakfast. After then drive to Kushinagar (260 Kms. / 7 hrs). Lunch will be served enroute in a nice motel. On arrival, Kushinagar check in to the hotel. Overnight at hotel.
After Breakfast at hotel, proceed to visit Mahaparinirvana Temple (where Buddha took his last breathe) and Rambhar Stupa (cremation site of lord Buddha). Lunch at hotel. After lunch drive toward Lumbini (170 kms. / 04 hrs drive) to Lumbini (in Nepal). Kindly obtain double entry visa for India & single entry visa for Nepal). On arrival, check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast at hotel. Proceed to visit Holy Birth place of Lord Buddha. After visit back to Hotel. Lunch at hotel. Drive to Sravasti (200 Kms/ 5 hrs.). On arrival, transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
After breakfast at Hotel. Proceed for visit Saheth (Jetvanaram) & Maheth (AngulimalCaves). After Lunch drive to Lucknow (170 Kms./04 Hrs.). On arrival transfer to railway station to connect the train for Delhi. On arrival Delhi transfer to airport to connect the flight for onward destination.
