Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Kashmir Valley and lies on the banks of the Jhelum River, a tributary of the Indus. The city is famous for its gardens, lakes and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits. Srinagar is one of several places that has been called the “Venice of the East” or the “Kashmiri Venice”. It is known for its lakes, which include Dal Lake – noted for its houseboats.

Vaishno Devi ( Katra ) :- Katra or Katra Vaishno Devi, as it is popularly known, is a small town in Reasi district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir situated in the foothills of the Trikuta Mountains, where the holy shrine of Vaishno Devi is located. It is located 42 km from the city of Jammu. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, one of the leading technical universities of India, is also located here.  

Katra serves as the base camp for pilgrims who visit Vaishno Devi. The number of pilgrims that visit the shrine every year has increased from 1.4 million in 1986 to 8.2 million in 2009. Over the years, a lot has changed, but one should not miss the opportunity to walk through the main bazaar (market) for buying (do not forget/hesitate to negotiate a bit) souvenirs, dry fruits, woollen garments, hosiery, leather jackets, etc.

To reach Vaishno Devi temple the pilgrims have to register at the Katra before starting the trek. By registering, the pilgrims get accident insurance while on the trek for 1 Lakh INR. It is a trek of 14 km.There is another trek (1.5 km) from Vaishno Devi temple for Baba Bhaironnath. It is said that the pilgrimage is not complete until you visit this temple at last. The scenery throughout the trek is picturesque. Environment-friendly auto rickshaws and helicopter services have started, to make the journey a pleasant one.

Day 1: Pick up from Srinagar airport / railway station and hotel check-in

Arrive Srinagar, pick up and transfer to Houseboat \ Hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure or visit the Nehru Garden. Overnight at Houseboat \ Hotel.

Day 2: Explore beautiful Srinagar city & Overnight at Houseboat / Hotel

This morning after breakfast visit world famous Mughal Gardens visiting the Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love), The Chasme Shahi Garden etc. Return to houseboat \ Hotel for hot lunch. In the afternoon Shikara ride on The Dal Lake to enjoy the beauty that God has graced this city with which is often compared to Venice. You will get view of some very interesting places around the Lake. Overnight at Houseboat \ Hotel.

Day 3: Full day excursion to Sonmarg and overnight stay at Srinagar

This morning take a full day excursion to Sonmarg, which is the most beautiful Place. On the way you stop at many beautiful spots. Continue drive to Sonmarg 2690 Mtrs (Meadow of Gold). One can ride on horse to visit Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains round the year. Sonmarg is known as Gateway of Ladakh. In the evening return to Srinagar for Overnight stay is at Hotel.

Day 4: Explore Gulmarg and Khalinmarg the most beautiful summer resorts in the valley

This morning after breakfast leave for Gulmarg which is one of the most beautiful summer resort in the valley. It is also popular for its highest golf course in the world and skiing during the winter season. One can have Gondola ride (cable car ride of your own) from Gulmarg to Khalinmarg. Return to Gulmarg, overnight stay is at Hotel in Gulmarg.

Day 5: Drive to Pahalgam via beautiful towns & villages of valley, Hotel check-in and Overnight stay at hotel

This morning after breakfast drive to Pahalgam 2440 Mtrs (Vale of Kashmir) on the way visit Saffron field and Avantipur ruins, which is eleven hundred years old temple. Finally by the lunchtime you will reach Pahalgam, which is the most famous palace for Indian Film Industry. After lunch enjoy the nature charm of the valley. Overnight stay is in Pahalgam.

Day 6: Enjoy the scenic beauty of Pahalgam. Overnight at hotel in Pahalgam

Today is the free day to enjoy the scenic beauty of Pahalgam. Overnight at hotel in Pahalgam.

Day 7: Drive to Katra and overnight stay at Katra

This morning after breakfast drive back to Katra. The day is free for rest or shopping. Overnight stay is at the hotel.

Day 8: Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan and stay at Katra

After breakfast proceed for Mata Vaishno Devi Darshan by horse or on foot to Maa Vaishno Devi Bhawan for Maa Vaishno's Divine Darshan and Bhairav Baba Temple. You can also walk down by foot to reach Katra. After returning Katra relax in the hotel. Overnight stay is at hotel in Katra.

Day 9: Transfer to Airport/Railway Station or Bus Stop for your onward journey

Today you will be transferred to Airport or Bus Station for your onward journey.
