Day Wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival At Airport And Stay At Sigiriya Sri Lanka

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International airport, you will be warmly greeted by your very own National guide and transferred Chilaw and visit Muneeshwaram Temple, Chilaw. Munneswaram temple is an important regional Hindu temple complex in Sri Lanka. It has been in existence at least since 1000 CE, although myths surrounding the temple associate it with the popular Indian epic Ramayana, and its legendary hero-king Rama. The temple is one of the ancient Pancha Ishwarams dedicated to Shiva in the region. Thereafter proceed to visit Mannavari Temple. Manavari is the first lingam installed and prayed by Lord Rama and till date this lingam is called as Ramalinga Shivan. Rameshwaram is the only other lingam in the world named after Lord Rama. Thereafter proceed to sigiriya for overnight stay. (Approx. 4 hrs drive) Spend overnights at Kassapa lion’s rock .

Day 2: Visit To Koneshwaram Temple And Shankari Devi Temple Etc.

After breakfast you will be driven to trincomalee (Approx. 2hrs and 30 mins drive) and Visit Koneshwaram temple and Shankari Devi temple in Trincomalee. Koneswaram temple of Trincomalee (also historically known as the Thirukonamamalai Konesar Kovil, the Temple of the Thousand Pillars and Thiru-Konamamalai Maccakeswaram Kovil) is an Hindu temple in Trincomalee, Eastern Province, Sri Lanka venerated by Saivites throughout the continent. It is built atop Swami Rock, a rocky promontory cape overlooking Trincomalee, a classical period harbor port town. The famed SHANKARI Temple, in Sri Lanka, is one of the 18 Devi Temples (Ashta Dasha Shakti Peethas). Many have heard the Ashtadasha Shakti Peetha Shloka starting with LANKAAYAAM SHAANKARI DEVI. composed by Sri Adi Shankara which means Shankari in Lanka. This Shloka enumerates the list of places of Devi temples which are considered to be part of the 18 Devi Peethas. After visiting the site drive back to Sigiriya and Spend overnights at Kassapa lion’s rock.

Day 3: Check-out From Sigiriya Drive To Nuwara Eliya

After early breakfast you will be driven to Nuwaraeliya. (Approx. 5 hrs drive) en route visit Sri bhaktha hanuman temple. BAKTHA HANUMAN TEMPLE - The Sri Lanka branch of the Chinmaya mission, commited to promoting the Ramayana philosophy as well as Ramayana Trail pilgrimages, has built a temple with Hanuman as a presiding deity in Ramboda at the Kandy to Nuwara Eliya mainroad. There is a new five metres tall granite statue of Rama's devote supporter. Hanuman is believed to have started his searching for Sita in the Baroda hills. Hanuman traditionally was not as popular among Sri Lankan Tamil devotees as he indeed is in India, because he devastated parts of the island with his burning tail. But in recent times Hindu missionaries and local Tamil spiritual leaders began building shrines for worshipping Hanuman in Sri Lanka, too. The Tamil word for Ramboda, Rampadai, means "Rama's force", this is why Ramboda is believed the area where Rama collected his troops. After breakfast Visit Sitha amman temple, Divurumpola and Hakgala garden. SEETHAI AMMAN TEMPLE - Seethai Amman Temple- Sri Seethai Amman temple is a unique temple it has been made at the place where Seeta Mata spent her days in the prison of Ravana aprox 5000 years ago. It is also unique in a way that it is one of the very few temples dedicated to Seeta .History has it that this is the place where Sita was held imprisoned by king Ravana, in the story of Ramayana. The temple has been reconstructed according to South Indian style and is set beautifully against a clear flowing stream. After visiting the site you can visit Hakgala botanical garden. This is the exotic pleasure garden where King Ravana kept the depressed Sita, insisting that she marries him. It was here where the heartwarming meeting took place between her and Hanuman, who brought her Rama’s ring with the news that Rama was looking for her. He offered to carry her back but she refused saying it would be an insult to Rama’s honor if she did so. Part of this majestic garden still exists. It is also said that Hanuman nearly destroyed it in order to prove to Ravana of the forces against him. Alter you can visit Divurumpola Temple This is the place where Seetha Devi underwent "Agni Pariksha" (test). It is a popular place of worship among locals in this area. Divurumpola means place of oath in Sinhala. The legal system permits and accepts the swearing done at this temple while settling disputes between parties.

Day 4: Local Sightseeing At Nuwaya Eliya

Day 5: Check-out From Nuwara Eliya And Drive To Kataragama

After breakfast, travel to Kataragama. (Approx. 4 hrs drive) En-route visit Rawana waterfall in Ella and Ravana cave. It is said that Ravana had kidnapped princess Sita, and had hidden her in the caves behind this waterfall, now simply known as the Ravana Ella Cave. At the time, the cave was surrounded with thick forests in the midst of wilderness. It is also believed that Rama’s queen bathed in a pool that accumulated the water falling from this waterfall. Kataragamam temple in Kataragama, Sri Lanka, is a Hindu and Buddhist temple complex dedicated to Skanda-Murukan also known as Kataragama deviyo. Spend overnights at Oak ray lake resort.

Day 6: Check-out From Kataragama And Drive To Colombo

After breakfast, travel to Colombo. (Approx. 5 hrs drive) En-route visit Ussangoda. Overnight stay in Colombo. After meeting Seetha Devi Lord Hanuman decided to test the strength of the mighty King Ravana and his army of Rakshasas. In the event that unfolded Lord Hanuman's tail was set on fire by the Rakshasas, who in turn went on to torch some parts of King Ravana's empire. Ussangoda is one of the torched areas, which is said to have been an airport used by King Ravana. Spend overnights at Hotel janaki .

Day 7: Hotel Check-out And Drop At Airport

After breakfast you can do a city tour in Colombo. COLOMBO – is the business and commercial center and the new capital is Sri Jayawardhanapura Kotte, only a few miles away. Colombo was only a small seaport, which came into prominence in the 16th Century with the arrival of the Portuguese in 1505 and the development of it as a major Harbour took place during the British period. Colombo became the capital of Sri Lanka in 1815 after Kandyan Kingdom was ceded to the British. The remains of the buildings during the period of the Portuguese, Dutch and British rule are found in every area of the city. None of the Portuguese & Dutch fortifications are found today but some of their buildings and churches could be seen in the Fort & Pettah areas. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area where there is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, the Kayman’s Gate with the Belfry at the original gate to enter the Fort, the Dutch Church of Wolfendhaal dating back to 1749, Also visit the BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall) & see the replica of Avukana Buddha in front and the Independence Memorial. After doing the city tour you will be transferred to airport for your flight back home.
